Privacy Policy

The short version

What you write about your family stays on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud. We can't read it. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data to improve the app. No ads, no tracking, no selling data. No account is needed.

What stays on your device and in your iCloud

Your name for yourself, your kids' names, pronouns and birthdays, your partner's name, the missions you log, letters, reflections, kid quotes and milestones, photos you add, saved cards, and your settings. If iCloud is on, this syncs through your private iCloud database, which is controlled by your Apple Account. We do not have access to it.

Anonymous usage data

We use TelemetryDeck to count things like which screens are viewed and which features are used. These events carry no name, email, or advertising identifier, are not linked to you, and are not used to track you across apps or websites.

To count how many different people use a feature, TelemetryDeck uses a random identifier for this install of the app, sent only as a one-way hash. It is not your name, your Apple ID, or an advertising identifier.

Once a day the app downloads a small settings file from our website (for example, whether book ordering is open yet). Like any web request, that sends your IP address to our web host. We don't use it to identify you, and the request carries nothing about you or your kids.

Purchases

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Apple. We receive whether a purchase is active, never your payment details.

Diagnostics

If you choose to share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple gives us crash and performance reports. They don't identify you.

Children

Fatherhood is for parents. Information about your kids is entered by you and stays in your private storage. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Retention and deletion

Your data stays until you delete it. In the app, Settings > Delete all data removes it from this iPhone and from your iCloud. Settings > Export all data gives you a copy first. Deleting data doesn't cancel a subscription; manage that in your Apple Account settings.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete or correct it, by emailing support. We reply within 30 days. Since your family content isn't on our servers, most requests are handled directly in the app.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so in the app and update the date above. Future features that send data to our servers (such as ordering a printed book) will be described here before they ship.
